" . . I know

That it is hard to be really useful, resigning
The things that men count for happiness, seeking
The good deeds that lead to obscurity, accepting
With equal face those that bring ignominy,
The applause of all or the love of none." Eliot

"Some also have wished that the next way to their Father's house were here that they might be troubled no more with either Hills or Mountains to go over; but the way is the way, and there's an end." Bunyan

Some physics and math notes

Finite groups have some interesting symmetries. I haven't found these referred to before.

Just for fun, what's a straight line?

Some minor results on compartmental analysis in Postscript (225K).

I have an unfinished revision of the report on group transforms, rewritten for the layman. The link is here to allow beta testers easier access.

Some notes on Pythagorean Triples

Read an introduction to particle physics.

Impressions of the discovery of the top quark (and of a lot of other high energy physics analysis).

How about some problems of dear old Alma Mater?

I propose the experiment that grad students be required to make a poster session-type of talk out of their theses, suitable for web publication. The target audience is high school students who want to get an idea of what is going on in physics research.

Some people have problems with tables. This page is table-less here.

Neither the University of Wisconson system nor the Physics Department are responsible for the contents of the pages I wrote.
